Now thataScary Moviereboot is in the works,horrorfans are excited to see how the next installment will talk about tropes, common characters, and typical plotlines. Two stars from the franchise have said they would be happy to return to the franchise.
In July 2024,Anna Faris said she would come back toScary Movieif Regina Hall did. She also mentioned “money” being a factor. Faris toldPeople:
“I would love to work with Regina again. I just love her so much. We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!”
In an interview withTV Insider,Regina Hall said she would love to play Brenda Meeks again. She praised her co-star Faris and then said:
“We’ll see if Brenda is in this new world. I’m thrilled at the possibility that the band could get back together again. That would be fun.”
Faris and Hall played best friends Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks. Cindy is a mash-ups oftwo slasher movie final girlsJulie James and Sidney Prescott, and Meeks is based onScream 2character Maureen Evans along with Karla Wilson inI Still Know What You Did Last Summer. It would be a shame to see aScary Moviereboot without both Faris and Hall. Fans are definitely hopeful that they can reprise their roles.
FiveScary Moviefilms were released between 2000 and 2013.While Faris and Hall appeared inScary Movie,Scary Movie 2,Scary Movie 3, andScary Movie 4, they didn’t appear inScary Movie 5, which was released in 2013. The fifth movie featured Lindsay Lohan, Charlie Sheen, Heather Locklear, Simon Rex, and Ashley Tisdale.
While there aremany zombie comedy moviesand meta slashers that poke fun at themselves, theScary Moviefranchise stands out. The movies have their own sense of humor and their own vibe. It addresses horror tropes like final girls, slasher villains, and the sometimes silly decisions that main and minor characters make while trying to get away from a killer. Althoughthere are no cast details at this time, it would be great to see the franchise’s original actors like Faris and Hall come back. Fans feel the same way about theScary Moviereboot cast as they do about the cast ofthe upcoming sequelScream 7.It would be fun to see new actors joiningScary Movieand poking fun at established and classic horror movie characters. But at the same time, audiences want to see the actors they know and love.

The actors have discussed theirScary Movieroles in numerous interviews. In 2022, Hall toldE! News, “I love Brenda so much, still do.” In 2020, which was the 20th anniversary of the original movie’s release, Faris toldVarietythat everyone knew they were working on a hilarious movie and “it was time for a spoof movie that pushed boundaries.”
