Summary
Remedy Entertainment releases a new update forAlan Wake 2, addressing numerous issues within the Lake House DLC as well as fixing other remaining issues in the base game. It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Remedy as not only hasAlan Wake 2celebrated its one-year anniversary on October 27, but the game also received its final paid DLC expansion, known as The Lake House.
Releasing alongside The Lake House,Alan Wake 2’s anniversary updatewas a massive one for players for not only adding more fixes and tweaks to the base game, but adding in a bunch of quality of life improvements as well. Specifically, new accessibility options were made available and, as some would say, cheat codes from the menu, allowing players to better tailor the experience like infinite ammo, one shot kills, immortality and more. The latestAlan Wake 2update isn’t quite as ambitious as the anniversary one, but still offers a new gameplay improvement as well.
As expected, the latest update forAlan Wake 2focuses on The Lake House DLCand shoring up a number of issues players have been experiencing since its launch. Specifically, Remedy has added more resource boxes for players to find before the final boss battle, allowing them to better prepare. In addition, the update fixed a variety of issues with the cinematics that play, missing paint on Sublevel 4 for the Painted enemies, as well as a rare issue that causes the player to get stuck inside the elevator when attempting to return to Sublevel 1.
Outside of The Lake House DLC, the November 18 patch fixes a couple of bugs including players not being able to fire a weapon after partially reloading it, as well as another frustrating issue where thePlayStation 5’s DualSense controller adaptive triggerscontinued to rumble in general. However, this update also added a neat little feature for players in that the flashlight can now boost the flashlight while reloading, effectively adding a way to quickly cancel the reload.
WhileAlan Wake 2has seen plenty of positivity and strong critical acclaim since it launched in 2023, it hasn’t been all good news for Remedy’s horror title. During a recent financial earnings report on June 18, 2025, the studio’s CEO Tero Virtala admitted thatAlan Wake 2hasn’t yet turned a profit for the company. However, that may soon change as the financial report addressed the financials up until September 2024, which doesn’t include the anniversary updates, PS5 Pro launch, as well as The Lake House DLC.
