Ahsokaseason 2 release plans haven’t received a significant update from official sources in nearly a year. Now, Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni has finally provided news onAhsokaseason 2’s progress, and it hasn’t been easy for him.
Ahsokaseason 1 concluded with multiple cliffhangers. Grand Admiral Thrawn returned with The Great Mothers by his side, Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren were stranded on the planet Peridea, and Baylan Skoll (also on Peridea) discovered statues of the Mortis gods, adding more questions to the mystery about his intentions. A second season seemed inevitable, but the closest fans have gotten to an official announcement was a brief mention that Filoni was developingAhsokaseason 2 when the company announcedThe Mandalorian and Grogumovie. In the nearly one year since that announcement, actors and scoopers have providedAhsokaseason 2 news, but Filoni has finally given an update on the series himself.
During an interview withExtraat theStar Wars: Skeleton CrewDisneylandpremiere, Filoni told fans they have more than “hope” forAhsokaseason 2, confirming that he’s writing it. Filoni admitted there have been challenges but added that he’s “pretty happy” with his work onAhsokaseason 2 so far. After expressing his fondness for the team on the show, includingAhsoka actress Rosario Dawson, Filoni saidAhsokaseason 2 may be the next project on hisStar Warsslate.

Sadly, the most asked question aboutAhsokaseason 2 concerns the fate ofthe late Ray Stevenson’s Baylan Skoll. The character was played by Stevenson, who passed away beforeAhsokapremiered on Disney Plus. In November 2023, Filoni acknowledged Baylan Skoll’s story is incomplete but said they were in a “wait-and-see pattern” at the time of the interview. Rumors are claiming Baylan Skoll will be recast, but official sources have not confirmed or denied any such plans.
Star Warsfans have their ideas on who shouldreplace Stevenson as Baylan Skoll inAhsokaseason 2. However, Stevenson’s performance was so revered that whoever ends up taking over the role will undoubtedly have big shoes to fill.
Of course, there are many other lingering questions from the first season that fans want to see resolved. Rumors claimAhsokaseason 2 may be the series final run, with Filoni preparing the wrap up the story in case the show isn’t renewed for a third season.
