Since the release ofTwo Point Hospitalback in 2018, Two Point Studios and SEGA have taken the simulation and business management genres by storm. Not only did the studio expand upon that original game with so much content, but it has also taken the concept toa whole new setting withTwo Point Campusin 2022. And now that it has built upon those foundations as well, the studio is set to do it once more withTwo Point Museumnext year. But, while those have been great to see, there is one setting that Two Point Studios has yet to adapt that it really needs to.
It remains to be seen ifTwo Point Museummeets expectations, but based on previous titles, there is a strong chance it will also deliver. If it does, then there is likely another Two Point Studios venture looming on the horizon. Even though there are tons of settings it could take the concept next, the studio may want to consider delivering its own version of Lionhead Studios' classicThe Movies. Fans of the genre have been clamoring for a new take for years, and as of now, it seems like Two Point Studios may be the ones best suited for the job.
The Two Point Franchise Has the Perfect Setting Waiting to Be Tapped
Two Point Has Done Justice to Simulator Classics
AlthoughtheTwo Pointseriesmay be forging its own trail now, there was a time when it simply served as a way to bring back the classics. The very first game,Two Point Hospital, served as a spiritual successor to 1997’sTheme Hospital. Not only did it also give players control over their very own wacky hospital, but the studio that made it was actually led by former developers on that original game. While it may have seemed risky, it resulted in another fan-favorite simulation game, and a whole new franchise as well.
Two Point Campuswas heavilyinspired by school-based movies andThe Sims, but it was not really a spiritual successor to anything. As of now, it does not seem likeTwo Point Museumis either. That being said, the entire franchise was kickstarted because the developers wanted to bring a classic simulation experience to the modern age. Because of that success, it seems only natural that the studio should try to do it again withThe Movies.
A Two Point Take on The Movies Sounds Like An Amazing Fit
Lionhead Studios’The Moviesgave players control over their very own Hollywood film studio. They were tasked with managing the day-to-day, ensuring their film stars were happy, and following the evolution of cinema. Along with that, they could also make their very own movies using in-game assets, which could then be shared with others. It made for a pretty great experience overall, yet it failed to make its mark. And as of now, no one has really been able to replicate it.
However, Two Point Studios could be the studio to successfully recreate it. The studio has already shown it understands what makes a simulation game tick, and its unique aesthetic could lead to a pretty great experience. Additionally, the studio was created by former Lionhead developers, and those that actually worked on that original game. So, just likeTheme Hospitalbefore it, Two Point seems tailor-made to make its own version ofThe Movies.
Of course, the studio’s main focus right now is onreleasingTwo Point Museum. But, once that hits store shelves, it should really consider creating the long-awaited follow-up toThe Movies. If it maintained the heart of its past games while also delivering what fans of that title have been clamoring for, then it could lead to something truly special.
