Despite no announcement on Kiefer Sutherland’s return to play the ex-CTU agent, it would be very surprising if he didn’t come back. If he does return, fans are questioning what Bauer’s mission might consist of. Of course,Bauer will have to save the world, but from what?
It feels like Jack Bauer prevented every kind of evil plot possible in the original24series, but the creative team will have to come up with something new for the24 Movie, to justify the big screen adventure.Jack Bauer will have to be releasedfrom Russian captivity to carry out a specific mission,and there’s a chance it’ll be a new variation on something he’s done before, but as long as it feels like a big threat, the audience will be on board.

The original 24 series ran between 2001 and 2010, and it saw Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) saving the world multiple times, and it was more often than not from terrorists trying to detonate a bomb on US soil.This would be the most obvious plot for the24 Movie, and it would work as long as it isa global threat, as this would make it feel different to all the other attacks Bauer stopped in the television series.24season 5 was arguably the best entry in the series, as it had everything. A terrorist plot to kill thousands of people, personal ramifications forJack Bauer’s important relationshipswith his daughter, Kim, and his former girlfriend, Audrey, and most of all, a conspiracy that was revealed to go as high up as the president. Of course, that would be a lot to fit into a two-hour movie, but it’s certainly possible.

Of course, the real life virus wasn’t a terrorist threat, butthe24 Movierebootcould twist this particular theme and turn it into a very topical and scary event.The third season dealt with the release of a virus, but the24 Moviecould do it in a different way, especially in light of real life events.Imagine a world where everyone had to remain indoors except for Jack Bauer and the bad guys who are trying to release a virus on a global scale. Bauer runs through the deserted streets of Los Angeles, in an apocalyptic race against time to save humanity from a deadly viral disease.

The very first season of24was very simple in its set up. Jack Bauer must stop a presidential candidate from being assassinated. The24 Moviecould potentially go back to its roots and do something similar to this.24always loved to rip stories from real life headlines, and assassinations of presidential candidates are very much a topical issue in the current climate.24always remained apolitical, and that was one of its strengths, and there was always an understanding that every president needed protection at all costs, and Jack Bauer would serve and protect whoever was in office at that particular time. Jack Bauer and David Palmer formed an unbreakable bond in the early seasons, andthe24 Moviecould recapture a similar relationship between Bauer and another president he is assigned to protect.It would take24back to where it began, and fans would love it. The president could also play a big part in Bauer’s release in the24 Movie, and that could cement the bond, if he then had to protect them from an assassination plot.
